Fake Ad Sites Impersonate ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude to Steal Passwords and Login Codes
Scammers are creating fake ad pages that look like popular AI services and using them to steal logins, passwords and one-time verification codes.
What happened
According to The Hacker News, fake ad pages impersonating ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude have appeared online. They are designed so that a user thinks they have landed on the official website of a well-known AI service.
Such pages collect credentials, that is, login and password, as well as multi-factor authentication codes. These codes are usually used to additionally protect an account, so stealing them gives scammers access to personal data.
How not to become a victim
Before entering your login or password, check the site's address. Open official services via bookmarks or type the address manually instead of clicking through from an ad.
Do not send one-time codes from SMS or an app to anyone who wrote to you or asked you to read them out. A genuine support service never needs these codes.
If you have already entered your data on a suspicious page, immediately change your password and check whether there are any unfamiliar logins in your account. It is also worth enabling two-factor authentication wherever possible.
