What happened

Meta has turned the ability to share conversations in Muse back on. It had been turned off earlier, after security researchers raised a warning.

Experts from Claroc reported that public links to conversations in Muse could be easily found. Among the pages they found were an internal revenue review of a marketing company and a loan application from a small business owner.

Why it matters

This story shows that when you share a link to a conversation with a chatbot, it may be seen by more than just the person you sent it to. If the conversation contains financial data, documents, or personal details, they could end up publicly accessible.

Before sharing any conversation with an AI service, it's worth checking whether it contains confidential information, and remembering that a link may be accessible to a wider audience than you planned.
