Chrome Can Now Use Your Gmail to Fill Out Forms
Google is adding an AI feature to Chrome that pulls the details you need from your Gmail and suggests them when you fill out online forms, if you allow it.
What's changing
Google Chrome is getting an AI-powered update to its autofill feature. The browser can now search your Gmail for the information you need and suggest it when you fill out a form on a website.
Chrome may suggest a flight confirmation number, membership ID, package tracking number, order number, address, phone number, or credit card number, all found in your emails.
How it connects to Gemini
The feature is an expansion of Google's Personal Intelligence. It already lets you connect Google apps to the Gemini AI assistant so it can retrieve certain details and answer more complex questions.
The change may seem minor, but it could make Chrome easier to use. That could give people another reason to keep using Google's browser and stay in its AI ecosystem.
Who can use it and how to control it
The feature is rolling out to U.S. users for now. It will work on desktop, as well as in the iOS and Android apps for Gemini in Chrome.
Users can decide whether to turn on enhanced autofill in their Chrome settings. Google says sensitive data is encrypted.
