Mark Zuckerberg Sees a Future Where Your AI Assistant Talks to Someone Else's AI Assistant
Mark Zuckerberg describes a world in which autonomous AI agents will buy, work, and communicate with other agents on our behalf, and asks whether people are ready for this.
What Zuckerberg Has in Mind
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, according to The Verge, is moving toward a future in which a network of autonomous AI agents will take over part of our lives. Such assistants could shop for us, do our work, and even communicate with the AI agents of other people.
The idea is that people won't have to handle many everyday tasks themselves. Programs acting on our behalf will partly take them over.
Are People Ready for This
The author of the article raises a simple but important question: are we ready for a life in which most communication happens through 'representative bots'? Such a picture may be convenient, but it also changes the usual way people communicate with each other.
So far, this is more a vision of the future than a finished product. But the questions Zuckerberg raises are worth discussing right now: how to control such programs, whom to trust with carrying out tasks, and what happens when agents start negotiating with each other.
