Apple releases iOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2: Siri now remembers past conversations
The update for iPhone and Mac gives Siri memory of past conversations, lets users block certain apps from Siri, and adds support for new languages, though Siri AI is still unavailable in the EU and mainland China.
What changed in Siri
Siri has gotten a memory feature. It can now recall what it recommended earlier, such as restaurants it suggested last week, and use that when you ask about them again.
Siri also draws on more sources: photos attached in Messages, Calendar event attendees, voicemails, and better results from Safari history and Reading List. This should give more accurate answers.
Access control
The new "Excluded Apps" option lets you choose, from one setting, which apps Siri, Search, and suggestions can access. This is useful if you don't want the assistant to see certain data.
Granular text selection also lets you copy just the part of a Siri response you need, instead of the whole text.
Languages and limits
Siri AI now works in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, in addition to English. However, Siri AI is still not available in the EU or mainland China.
Other changes
Messages now shows suggestions based on your conversations. For example, a dinner invitation can be added to Calendar with one tap. Photos adds SynthID watermark support, which helps identify whether an image was created or modified with generative tools. This works in Photos and Image Playground.
Shared Albums in Photos can now edit captions and comments, avoid duplicate photos, and show a reminder before an album expires. Podcasts has New Episodes and Continue Playing sections. Apple TV lets each household member have their own profile. FaceTime can add a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner to a call.
macOS 27.2 (Golden Gate) and watchOS get mostly the same Siri updates. visionOS 27.2 adds the new languages and an updated Music icon. Apple Music also has new branding.
