How to Use Gemini to Update Your Resume

Google explains how to turn raw notes about your work experience into strong resume bullet points with Gemini in four steps.

Tools

Step 1: Tell Gemini about your experience

Open the Gemini app and describe all your past jobs without worrying about wording. What matters is that you say what you actually did.

Step 2: Give the right instruction

Add this prompt to the conversation: «Act as a professional resume writer. Use my raw, unedited notes about my past work and turn it into four high-impact resume bullets for a _______ role. Start each bullet with a strong action verb. Keep the tone executive, clear, and ATS-friendly».

Before sending, replace the blank with the job title you are applying for. The prompt asks Gemini to write four resume bullet points, start each with a strong action verb, keep an executive and clear tone, and make them suitable for ATS (applicant tracking systems, the automated programs that screen resumes before a person reads them).

Step 3: Refine the result

If the text is not quite right, keep chatting with Gemini. You can change details, tone, or focus, for example by putting more emphasis on leading a team or on specific results.

Step 4: Put the text into your resume

When you are happy with the result, copy the bullet points and paste them into your resume. Still check that every fact is accurate before you send it, because AI can make mistakes or overstate things.
