Meta quietly launches Style Sketch, an AI app that builds outfits from clothes you already own
Style Sketch from Meta suggests outfits from your existing wardrobe and shows them on a virtual model, for now only in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand.
What the app is
Meta has quietly launched Style Sketch, an AI app for picking outfits. It helps you put together looks from clothes you already have.
You can build your wardrobe in two ways. The app can connect to Instagram and build a virtual closet from your photos, or you can add items manually by snapping a photo, recording a short video, or uploading images from your camera roll.
How it works
The app suggests outfit combinations from your clothes that match your style. You can pick a specific item and get new outfit ideas built around it, rather than random suggestions.
You can try outfits on a "realistic model matched to your body shape and skin tone," according to the app description.
There is also a travel feature. You enter your destination, trip length, and planned activities, and the app creates a day-by-day outfit plan that takes the weather forecast and itinerary into account.
Where it is available and what's next
For now, Style Sketch is available in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand on iOS and Android. The link in this article goes to the Indonesian App Store page.
Meta did not respond to TechCrunch's request for comment, and it is unknown whether the company plans to launch the app more widely.
How it compares
Similar features already exist in other apps, including startups like Alta, and in Google Photos, which can turn photos of clothes into a digital closet. So the idea itself is not new.
Meta's likely advantage is its link to Instagram, where people already have a visual record of their personal style.
