Netflix adds AI Discover tab that suggests something to watch based on your mood

Netflix is testing a new AI Discover tab that suggests movies and shows based on your mood, available time, or a genre theme.

✨ What the tab is

Netflix has launched a new “AI Discover” tab. It is an experimental feature meant to help users find something to watch without endlessly scrolling through the catalog. The first feature under the tab gives recommendations based on what you are currently in the mood for.

Netflix says AI Discover is powered by a new intelligence layer that responds to what users tell the platform in real time and keeps learning.

📌 How to use it

On your TV, a “Discover” button with a red gem icon and a “New” label will appear in the top navigation bar. From there you can pick a ready-made theme with matching clips from shows and movies. Themes include “something light,” “scare me,” “family movie night,” “quick watches,” and “what’s new and trending.”

After you choose a theme, matching recommendations appear. You can select more specific themes to keep narrowing your search, or choose “something different” to start over.

Next to the “Play” and “My List” buttons on each title is a “Tune Your Recommendations” button. It lets you save recommendations you like or exclude titles you don’t want suggested again.

🔹 Why Netflix is doing this and where it works

Netflix calls the tab its “test kitchen,” a place to try out new discovery features. User feedback will help the company decide which features to keep or improve before bringing them to the main Netflix experience.

For now, AI Discover is starting to roll out in the U.S. to users who watch Netflix in English on supported TVs. The company plans to bring the tab to more users in the coming weeks.
