Gemini for Home now works with AT&T's security system: what it does and how much it costs
AT&T's Connected Life home security system now works with Gemini for Home, so AI can describe camera events, find specific recordings on request, and arm or disarm the system based on your proximity to home.
What happened
AT&T's Connected Life home security system now supports Gemini for Home, Google's AI assistant. AT&T says its system is the first home security product to integrate with Google Home Premium.
What Gemini for Home does in this system
The assistant can give detailed descriptions of events captured by your cameras, such as who delivered a package and how many items they dropped off.
You can search recorded footage with everyday questions, for example: "What dug up the yard last night?" or "Who let the dogs out?" You can also review daily summaries of activity in and around your home.
Price and conditions
These features are only available with AT&T's professional Connected Life monitoring plan at $29.99 per month. AT&T is also adding automatic arming and disarming based on your proximity to home.
Background
Connected Life launched in partnership with Google and Abode. AT&T now uses Google's Gemini-powered Home APIs, which let smart home brands and developers add AI features to their devices.
ADT, another home security provider, has also hinted that it may bring Gemini for Home features to its systems.
